Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will
be celebrated on May 2 or 3, depending on the sighting of the moon. State
Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the garment workers
will be given leave in phases from April 27 keeping in view that date.
This information was given to the journalists after the
inter-ministerial meeting on Sunday (April 10) at the Secretariat on the
occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
He said that from April 27, they will arrange phased leave -
we have been informed about this through BGMEA and BKMEA. So that excess
pressure is not created on roads and waterways; that will be confirmed.
The state minister said the ferries that are in the dockyard
will be fixed for repairs and will be ready for transportation during Eid. They
have assured us that this time we will be able to provide the service of 51 ferries
on different water routes.
