All Pahela Baishakh Programmes Must End by 2pm: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shafiqul Islam has said all Pahela Baishakh programmes must end by 2.00 pm on April 14.

The DMP commissioner said this while visiting the security arrangement for the Pahela Baishakh celebration at Ramna Batamul in the city on Tuesday.

No food shops will be opened since the celebration will be observed amid Ramadan. All out security measures have been taken to ensure full-proof security of the Pahela Baisakh celebration in the capital, he said.

There will be checkpoints at the entrances of Ramna Batamul and everyone has to go through them. Also, no vehicles will be allowed to enter the Ramna area, he added.

The areas where people will go for the celebration will be swept by dog squad, and special teams, as well as bomb disposal units, will be deployed, said the DMP commissioner.
