Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, "No one in our country is above law. Whoever does wrong here, has to face justice. I think they (the US State Department) have misrepresented what they did (report). "

He made the remarks in response to a question from reporters at his office in the Secretariat on Wednesday (April 13).

He said there was a discrepancy in the report released by the US State Department on the abuse of power by the country's security forces.

The minister said, "This allegation is probably from 2021, not 2022." The number of disappearances and murders that are being talked about here in 2021 is not in our record. '

"If anyone is killed in a gunfight by our security forces, even if the security forces fire in self-defense, an executive magistrate investigates every case," he said. If this proves the truth of the incident, then we close that matter. And if the executive magistrate thinks the incident is wrong or careless, we will send it to the judiciary. "

The US report says security forces are being used for political purposes. Asked about this, the minister said, "It would have happened when the BNP was in power. If they talk about it, I don't know. Ever since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took charge of the country, if any kind of injustice-torture is done by any of the security forces, will face the law. That is what I have repeatedly said."

The minister said, "We have often searched for the disappearances and murders. Many of them may have gone into hiding. Maybe he lost his business and went somewhere by himself. You see, a few days ago, a man said, after two and a half years, that he went disappeared on purpose, because of his family feud."

He added, "Our security forces have found many people. I can still say emphatically that there is a discrepancy in the information that has come out in the report."
