Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the clashes between Dhaka College students
and traders in the New Market area of the capital would be brought
under control soon and the situation would calm down soon.
However,
he said those responsible for the clashes would have to face the law.
He
was responding to reporters' questions after a meeting at the Secretariat on
Tuesday (April 19) at noon to review the overall law and order situation, pay
salaries and allowances to garment workers, and keep roads and highways safe and
traffic-free.
The
Home Minister said that the incident at Dhaka College and New Market was a
minor incident and there was violence. Our security forces are watching and
taking action with utmost patience. We heard that some people were injured by
throwing bricks.
"Our
Dhaka Metropolitan Police is working," he said. The Inspector-General of
Police is supervising. We think it will cool down in a while. Those who caused
it will surely face the law.
