One Dies in Corona Infection, 28 New Cases Detected

The country’s coronavirus situation remains under control for around two months while the daily number of corona cases remains below 50 for the last few days, reports media.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), one Covid-19 patient died and 28 infection cases were recorded in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

In the last 38 days – since March 14 – the country witnessed a total of 27 deathless days in coronavirus infection, according to the DGHS, while 15 people succumbed to the virus.

The daily number of coronavirus infection cases declined to below 1,000 on February 25, after eight weeks as 892 infection cases were reported on January 5 in the country.

The number of total infection cases has risen to 19,52,440 with an overall positivity rate of 14.00 percent. Some 5,098 samples were tested in the last 24 hours to detect the infection cases.

The DGHS said the country’s corona infection situation remains under control for around two months.

The daily corona infection rate remains below two percent for over 42 consecutive days. The daily infection rate has remained below four percent for last over six weeks since February 28.

The daily infection rate was reported 0.55 percent on Wednesday. It was 0.90 percent on Tuesday, 0.67 percent on Monday, 1.04 percent on Sunday, 1.28 percent on Saturday and 0.64 percent on Friday.

Earlier, the coronavirus daily infection rate crossed 30 percent in the country during the third wave of the virus transmission and it started declining further from the beginning of the last month.

The national death toll has increased to 29,127 with a case fatality rate has stood at 1.49 percent.

Some 546 more Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning, raising the total number of recoveries to 18,92,074. The total recovery rate reached 96.91 percent.

The country's maiden case was reported on 8 March in 2020 and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March of the same year.
