Advance train tickets for homebound passengers have started selling on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Railway authorities started selling tickets at 26 counters on both sides of Kamalapur railway station from 8 am on Saturday (April 23).

Only women and persons with special abilities are being given tickets at a counter in Kamalapur. At the same time, 50 percent of the tickets have started selling online as well as at the counters.

People, waiting for tickets, have formed long queues from the front of the counters to the end of the station. The number of ticket seekers at the station has been increasing since last Friday (April 22) night to get the desired ticket.

After two years of Coronavirus outbreak, passengers have come to the station to buy tickets to go home for celebrating Eid joy with their loved ones, ignoring the hostile weather. Many people are choosing the railway to avoid road congestion.

Advance ticketing has started from 8 am on Saturday to April 27 today. Today, 26,700 tickets are being issued for 37 trains. However, advance tickets for Eid sold will not be refunded.

Besides, Bangladesh Railway is selling Eid tickets at 77 counters of Kamalapur, Bimanbandar, Tejgaon, Banani, and Gulistan old railway stations in the capital. From Kamalapur station tickets are being given for 16 trains bound for North Bengal and Khulna.
