Today is the last working day before Eid. During Eid, there
is always more pressure on the railways than on the roads and waterways. This
time too there was no exception. As it was the last working day, the crowd at
Kamalapur railway station in the capital on Thursday (April 28) was much higher
than the first day. The crowd is expected to increase further afternoon.
However, it is a matter of some relief that the train from
Kamalapur railway station to different parts of the country was seen leaving on
time on Thursday morning.
But a few hours ago, a freight train crashed in Abdullahpur.
Due to this the Nilsagar Express leaves two hours and five minutes late. Also
the Rangpur Express train could not reach Kamalapur station. For this, the
passengers going to Rangpur have been taken by Mohanganj Express.
On the first day of the Eid Journey, the Journey was
scheduled to start at 6 am on Wednesday (April 27) on the Rajshahi-bound
Dhumketu Express but due to delay, the next train started at 6:20 am via the
Sylhet-bound Parabat Express. Like yesterday, there was a fear among the
passengers that the train might leave late after the scheduled time. However,
the train is leaving today as per the schedule.
Kamalapur railway station can be seen on the spot, many
people have come to the station to catch the train to their destination after
eating sehri. Passengers said they had arrived at the station earlier for fear
of falling asleep and not being able to catch the train. Many of these
passengers have brought hand fans to escape the scorching heat.
It has been learned that 53,000 passengers will travel by
train daily from the capital Dhaka to different parts of the country during
this year's Eid Journey. In the meantime, the intercity train alone will have
more than 27,000 seats. Besides, the railway authorities have decided to run
six pairs of special trains for the convenience of this year's Eid Journey.
Return train tickets will start selling on May 1 at the end
of Eid Journey.
