Speedboat with 11 Passengers Sinks Near Padma Bridge

A speedboat carrying 11 passengers capsized near Padma Bridge on the Banglabazar-Shimulia route. The incident took place around 8:30 am on Saturday (April 30).

According to BIWTA's Banglabazar Ghat sources, all the passengers of the capsized boat have been rescued. No one is missing.

This morning the speedboat left Shimulia for Banglabazar Ghat in Madaripur. It actually capsized on the banks of the Padma River near the Padma Bridge. Upon receiving the news, a team of local fishermen, boats and naval police went and rescued the passengers.

According to a source in the ghat, the speedboat named Babu took more passengers from Shimulia than its capacity. While crossing the bridge, it overturned due to strong waves. The name of the driver of the boat is Ujjal.

Confirming the matter, Jahanur Ali, inspector of Kathalbari Naval Police Outpost, said the boat cracked and sank. However, all the passengers have been rescued. No one was injured or missing.
