Eid Congregation in Jatiya Eidgah Maidan To Be Held at 8:30 am

The main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at the Jatiya Eidgah Maidan adjacent to the Supreme Court premises in the capital at 8:30 am, reports media.

Eid will be observed either on May 2 or 3 depending on the decision of the National Moon Sighting Committee. 

Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh visited the Jatiya Eidgah Maidan on Saturday to see the preparedness.

Taposh was addressing reporters as Dhaka South City Corporation is the custodian of the Jatiya Eidgah Maidan.

He called upon Dhaka city dwellers to attend the congregation at Jatiya Eidgah Maidan which has capacity to accommodate 35,000 devotees.

“I have learnt from the Ministry of Religious Affairs that the main congregation will be held at Jatiya Eidgah Maidan at 8:30am. I invite the inhabitants of Dhaka city to come here to perform Eid prayers. There is also arrangement for 3,500 female devotees in the place,” he said.

The mayor expressed happiness due to the reason that people in Dhaka city will be able to perform prayers at Jatiya Eidgah Maidan after hiatus of two years due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Security has been beefed up in and around the Jatiya Eidgah Maidan ahead ofthe Eid congregation. Besides, necessary steps have been taken to protect the devotees in case of inclement weather.
