Several villages in Faridpur, Chandpur, Bhola, Dinajpur, and
Moulvibazar districts of the country have been celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on
Monday in accordance with Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.
Thousands of people of these villages offered their prayers
at Eid congregation in the morning.
In Faridpur, the main Eid congregation was held on Rupapat
High School Ground in Boalmari at 10:30am, said organizers.
Since 1928, thousands of people of Katagor, Sahasrail,
Shekhar, Chhoy Hajar, Maitkomra, Bhulbaria, Ganganandapur, Boroga, Kolimajhi,
Rakhaltali, Barangkula, Surjok and Dori Sahasrail villages have been fasting
during Ramadan and observing Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha along with Saudi
Arabia.
In Bhola, a total of 3,000 residents of 14 villages are
celebrating the biggest Muslim festival on Monday.
The first congregation of Eid was held at 8:30am in Tobgi
village of Borhanuddin upazila of the district.
In Dinajpur, Holy Eid-ul-Fitr prayers have been offered in
some parts of five upazilas of the district.
Meanwhile, Shadra and Shamserpur villages in Hajiganj of
Chandpur and Badarpur of Patuakhali have already celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on
Sunday in line with the celebration in Afghanistan, Niger and Mali.
However, according to the government, Eid will be celebrated
in the country on Tuesday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted on Sunday evening.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the National Moon
Sighting Committee at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
