This time a ferry collided with
an electricity pole during the Eid journey, not the Padma Bridge. With this, a
large part of the front of an ambulance on the ferry was broken.
The ferry passengers said the
ferry left Faridpur from Shimulia Ghat in Munshiganj for Majhikandi Ghat around
2:30 pm on Sunday. The ferry collided with the pole of the Payra Thermal Power
Plant in the middle of the river Padma Bridge. A large part of the front of a
hearse ambulance near the lid of the ferry was broken. Then panic spread among
the other passengers.
Salauddin Ahmed, manager of
BIWTC’s Banglabazar Majhikandi Ghat, said the ferry hit electricity poles due to
the storm. The ferry is safe.
Asked if there was any damage to
the ferry, he said, “Our Marine officials can tell.”
He called Ahmed Ali, a marine officer
at Mawa river port, but did not receive a call.
