As the situation of the coronavirus or Covid-19 pandemic
crisis has become almost normal, the number of people leaving the capital Dhaka
to celebrate Eid with their family has increased. 73 lakh people have left
Dhaka in the last four days.
In such a condition, the capital's streets are generally
deserted. The number of cars on the road is rather modest. Furthermore, the
number of people present is really low.
According to law enforcement sources, using this
opportunity, the law enforcement agencies have beefed up surveillance in the
capital to prevent criminal activities including snatching, theft and sexual
harassment.
Important roads of the capital are being monitored
round-the-clock by DMP from CCTV. If anyone sees abnormal movement, they will
have to face interrogation and action will be taken.
DMP Commissioner Moha. Shafiqul Islam said 2,500 police
personnel would be deployed across the capital at night during the Eid holiday.
If any abnormal movement is caught on CCTV at this time, he or she will also be
questioned.
Checkpoints have been installed at the gates to each
district, including the capital. These checkpoints will try to prevent vehicles
from speeding through empty Dhaka.
In addition, the mobile court's operations will continue on
Eid. While visiting entertainment centers, parks, and zoos during the Eid
holidays, members of the law enforcement agencies will be on round-the-clock
patrol to ensure that no one is harassed or falls into the clutches of the
unconscious party (Oggan party, a criminal ring) and malam party.
Law enforcement says the mobile court will take effective
action as soon as allegations of harassment, extra fare and sexual harassment
are received. The hotline (01777720029) has been launched to receive such
complaints.
RAB Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said that
an “adequate number of drones” would be deployed to deal with any situation and
intelligence surveillance in white-clad uniforms would be increased.
Helicopters have also been kept ready. A total of 15 battalions of RAB will be
deployed across the country including the capital.
Besides, security has been beefed up at various Eidgahs and
mosques. In a word, the capital has been covered with a security cordon centering
on Eid.
