Government offices will resume on Thursday (May 5) after a
six-day holiday on the holy Eid al-Fitr. The holiday, which started last Friday
(April 29), ends today, Wednesday (May 4).
Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims in
the country, was celebrated on Tuesday (May 3) in Bangladesh.
Last Friday and Saturday (May 29 and 30) were weekly holidays.
Then Sunday (May 1) was the May Day holiday. After that, government officials and
employees are spending the Eid holidays on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (May 2, 3, and 4).
After being open for one day on Thursday, it is again a
two-day (6th and 7th May) weekly holiday. So those who took leave on 5th May
are getting 9 days off in a row. In that case, they will have to take office
next Sunday (May 7).
Therefore, it has been learned that most of the government
officials and employees who are going to celebrate Eid outside Dhaka have taken
optional leave on 5th May.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Eid celebration has been restricted
for the last two years. Eid-ul-Fitr has returned to normal after two years due
to improvement in the coronavirus situation.
