Regarding the departure of Haji Selim, a Member of
Parliament who was sentenced to 10 years in a corruption case, Home Minister
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that Haji Selim had gone abroad in accordance with
the law and returned.
He made the remarks at a briefing at the Home Ministry on
Thursday (May 5).
He said that Haji Salim had gone to Bangkok for urgent treatment, and he has come back.
"Whatever legal questions arise, he is a member of the Parliament. He respects the law. He went abroad abiding by the law," the home minister added.
He also said, "When the High Court gives a verdict, the official verdict arrives too. However, Haji Salim went abroad and came back before the implementation of that."
Haji Selim, Member of Parliament for the ruling party,
arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from Bangkok, Thailand
at 12:15 pm today. Earlier on Saturday (April 30) afternoon, Haji Selim, who
was sentenced to 10 years in prison, went to Bangkok through Hazrat Shahjalal
International Airport.
