543 Killed in Road Accidents in April

There were 426 road accidents across the country in April. 534 people including 6 women and 61 children lost their lives in these accidents. At least 612 people were injured in these road accidents.

The Road Safety Foundation, a non-governmental organization, presented this information in a report.

The agency said in a report released on Saturday (May 7th) that 206 people had been killed in motorcycle accidents in April. This is 38.93 percent of the total deaths. And last month there were 189 motorcycle accidents.

The report further said that 118 pedestrians were killed in the mentioned road accidents last month. This is 21.38 percent of the total deaths. The driver and assistant of the vehicle were killed.

In addition to road accidents, there have been six shipping accidents in the last month. Eight were killed and at least six were missing. At the same time, 23 people were killed and 5 others injured in 21 railway accidents.

The Road Safety Foundation has compiled the report based on information from seven national dailies, five online news portals and electronic media.
