A dentist allegedly killed his wife and two daughters at village Angurpara under Ghior upazila in Manikganj on early Sunday, police said.
The deceased are Laboni Akhter, 35, wife of the dentist Md Asaduzzaman, and their two daughters Chhnoa Akhter, 16, and Katha Akhter, 12, of the village.
The police said that they arrested the dentist.
Ghior police station officer-in-charge Md Riazuddin Biplob said that they, on information from the villagers, rushed to the spot at about 6:00am on Sunday and found the three bloodstained bodies on a bed in their living room in village Angurpara.
He said that the victims were killed by slitting their throats.
The police officer said that they sent the bodies to Manikganj General Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The OC said that the dentist fled the scene after killing his wife and daughters but they arrested him within hours.
The police officer said that the dentist claimed to them that he committed the crime as he fell into huge debt and his family did not support him during his crisis period.
‘The dentist claimed to us that he planned to kill himself after killing his wife and daughters. But, he fled after killing the trio sometimes after 3:00am on Sunday,’ he said.
The OC said that filing a case in this connection was under process.
