Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the
government has not yet received any official information about Prashanta Kumar
(PK) Halder, former managing director (MD) of NRB Global Bank and Reliance
Finance Limited, who was arrested in India.
"We know that PK Halder has been arrested in
India," he said. "However, we have not yet received any official
information about him. We will take legal action."
He was responding to a question from reporters after a
seminar on "Sheikh Hasina's Homecoming: Reconstruction of History"
organized by the Bangladesh Progressive Columnist Forum at the National Press Club
on Sunday (May 15) at 11am.
Referring to PK Halder as a wanted person in Bangladesh, the
Home Minister said, "We have been looking for him through Interpol for a
long time. He has been arrested. However, we have not yet received any official
(information).
Earlier on Saturday (May 14), six people, including PK Halder,
were arrested from Ashoknagar in West Bengal. The other five arrested are Uttam
Mitra, Swapan Mitra, Sanjeev Halder, Pranesh Halder (Pritish) and his wife.
Meanwhile, the Bankshall Special CBI Court of India has
granted a three-day remand to PK Halder. Six people, including PK Halder, were
produced in the Bankshall CBI court late on Saturday night. The court then
remanded them for three days.
