India's Enforcement Directorate (ED) has requested the court
to grunt another 14-day remand of Prashanta Kumar Halder (PK Halder), former
managing director (MD) of NRB Global Bank and Reliance Finance Limited, who was
arrested from West Bengal.
After a three-day remand, PK Halder was taken to the
Bankshall Court (Special Court) in Kolkata on Tuesday (May 17). At that time,
ED applied for remand again.
Earlier in the morning, PK Halder was taken to the Nagar
Sub-Divisional Hospital from the CGO Complex in Salt Lake, the regional office
of the ED. After a medical check-up, he was brought back to the CGO complex at
9.30 am. He did not give any answer when asked by the media personnel at that
time.
This high-profile accused has been in one outfit for more
than 100 hours in the last five days. According to ED sources, no one close to
him came forward to give clothes to him or his companions. So their days are being passed in one dress.
A search operation in West Bengal on Friday (May 13) led to
the arrest of six people, including PK. ED took them into custody last Saturday
(May 14) after a long interrogation. Last Sunday (May 15), their three-day ED
remand ended today.
