Bangladesh Begins First Ever Mustard Oil Import from India

Bangladesh has started importing mustard oil from neighboring India through Hili Land Port of Dinajpur district for the first time as demand of this oil is increased, reports media.

Oil mills in different parts of the country are importing mustard oil to meet the demand of the country. Mustard oil is being imported from Rajasthan state, India.

Hili Land Port Importers’-Exporters’ Group President Harun Ur Rashid said, “Importers arre importing mustard oil from India due to rising oil prices and demand in the country’s market. They are selling mustard oil at the port at Tk 100 per kg.

According to Hili Land Port sources, about 537 metric tons of mustard oil has been imported from India in 18 trucks through the land port.

Ahmed Kabir, a representative of Messrs Samia Traders, said, “There is a huge demand for mustard oil in the country’s market. I am importing mustard oil from India’s Rajasthan state.”

“Many oil mills of the country are buying this mustard oil. Mustard oil is being supplied especially to Gaibandha district’s Mama-Bhagne Oil Mill and Bogura Oil Mill,” he said.
