The Appellate Division has rejected the contempt of court petition filed by the parents of two Japanese children Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina against Bangladeshi national Imran Sharif.

The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui passed the order on Thursday (June 2).

Senior counsel Barrister Ajmalul Hossain QC heard the appeal in the court. He was assisted by Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir.

Earlier, on May 18, Erico filed a contempt of court petition against Imran.

On the same day, lawyer Shishir Monir said that the Appellate Division had instructed the mother of two children to stay in Baridhara with Nakano Erico. Father will be able to meet the children. Disobeying this instruction, Imran Sharif forcibly went out with the children from time to time. That is why we have applied for contempt of court.

The Appellate Division ruled that the two children would remain with their mother until the case was settled in the Dhaka Family Court on February 13. Besides, the judgment of the High Court in this regard was quashed. Erico will not be able to leave the country with the children at this time and father Imran will be able to visit the children, the verdict said.
