Another
person named Masud Rana (38) was killed in an explosion and fire at a BM
container depot in Sitakunda, Chattogram. The death toll has risen to 44 so
far.
He
died at the Intensive Care Unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on
Wednesday (June 8). He is a resident of Sarishabari Upazila of Jamalpur.
The
matter has been confirmed by ASI Alauddin Talukder, Assistant Sub-Inspector of
District Police in charge of the hospital.
He
said that Masud Rana, one of the many people undergoing treatment at the CMCH burn
unit, died at around 4.15 am today. After the autopsy, the body will be handed
over to the family.
Earlier
on Tuesday (June 7), the fire service recovered two bodies from the spot in
Sitakunda. One of them is a fire service worker and the other is a security
guard, said the fire service officials.
The
fire broke out inside the BM container depot loading point at around 9 pm on
Saturday (June 4). While working on fire control, a container containing chemicals
exploded with a loud sound.
The
blaze has killed at least 44 people, including nine firefighters. More than
four hundred were injured.
