3 Lakh 92 Thousand Posts Are Vacant in Govt Service

At present, 3, 92, 117 posts are vacant in all ministries/departments and government offices of the country, said Farhad Hossain, Minister of State for Public Administration.

He said that according to the Code of Conduct for Government Employees-2018, submission of assets has been made compulsory. He also said that the issue of citizenship of family members of government employees abroad has already been included in the code of conduct.

Farhad Hossain said that action is being taken as per Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules-2018. Work is underway to formulate a new posting policy. The formulation policy will be finalized soon. There is a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) for promotion of employees of all grades including senior scale and there is a Promotion Rules for the posts of Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary and Secretary to the Government-2002 in the light of which promotion is being given.

In reply to another question from Benazir Ahmed, Farhad Hossain said that at present the number of vacancies in all ministries / departments and government offices in the country is 3 lakh 92 thousand 117. However, some vacancies could not be filled in time due to litigation in the courts, non-completion of recruitment process and non-availability of qualified candidates for promotion.
