The government has formed 140 medical teams to provide necessary help among flood-hit people across the country, Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said.

“Members of the medical teams will provide services at district, Upazila, and union levels. The team includes doctor, nurse, civil surgeon, SP, DC, and officials from the Relief ministry,” said the minister while addressing at the triennial council of Mohila Awami League, Manikganj district unit on Saturday afternoon, reports media.

A coordination committee has been formed in Dhaka to monitor the flood-hit areas, said Zahid Maleque.

He said, “Sylhet is affected by the flood and many districts have been inundated. Medical services at the hospital are being disrupted by the flood waters. The floodwaters inundated the hospital and submerged roads. It has become difficult to provide treatment to patients.”

The Health Minister said, “Members of the medical team are carrying everything that is needed, including saline, water purification tablets and other things need for treatments. They are serving the people by going through any vehicle, including boat and speedboat, as the roads are flooded.”

About the Covid infection, Zahid Maleque said, “Coronavirus is on the rise in the country, we have to be vigilant about it.”

He said, “We must wear masks. Those who don’t take vaccine yet, must be vaccinated immediately. Be careful as much as you can.”

Manikganj Mohila Awami League President Nina Rahman presided over the council where central Mohila Awami League president Safia Khatun, general secretary Mahmuda Begum, and Manikganj district unit Awami League President Advocate Golam Mohiuddin were present, among others.
