Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said dope tests will be conducted at public
universities to prevent drug use. Therefore, by amending the law of the
universities, the dope test is being made compulsory during the admission of
students.
At
the same time, he said, some infrastructure needs to be developed to make these
activities widely available to government employees.
He
made the remarks at a press conference on the occasion of International Day against
Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2022 at the Home Ministry's conference room
at the Secretariat on Sunday (June 26).
"We
are making a law in the case of universities," he said. Students will be
medically tested at the time of admission. This dope test will be done along
with that test.
Responding
to a question from media persons, he said, "When the Prime Minister was
talking about zero tolerance, we had already started dope tests in the police
force." We have sent a proposal to the Prime Minister to appoint
government officials and employees who will also be tested for dope by the Civil
Surgeon. That is also being done.
"We
need to develop more infrastructure," he said. The law is being made in
the case of the university, the law will have it. Medical tests will be done at
the time of admission, including dope tests.
