A mother and daughter were killed when they were
hit by a cattle-laden truck at Boalmari in Faridpur. The accident took place at
Kalimajhi of Rupapat Union on the Maijkandi-Bhatiapara Regional Highway in the
upazila around 2pm on Sunday (July 3).
Kalpana Mandal, a relative of the deceased, said
Suparna Biswas, 30, wife of Prabir Biswas of Tungrail village in Rupapat union
of the upazila, was returning home in a van from Sahasrail Bazar of Shekhar
union with her daughter Pratasha Biswas, 7.
On reaching the Maijkandi-Bhatiapara regional
highway at Kalimajhi Itwata in Boalmari upazila, a speeding truck carrying
cattle hit the van from behind. Suparna Biswas and her daughter Pratasha Biswas
died on the spot. The deadly truck quickly fled, crushing the van.
Officer-in-charge of Boalmari Police Station
Muhammad Abdul Wahab confirmed the incident.
