Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the city-dwellers have started returning home to celebrate Eid with their families and relatives. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has requested to follow 12 instructions to return home safely from Dhaka.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) of the DMP's Media and Public Relations Department Mohammad Faruk Hossain gave the directive on Monday (July 4) afternoon.

He said, on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, I would like to extend my best wishes to all on behalf of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police is seeking the sincere cooperation of the city dwellers to ensure the security of the citizens' lives, the endless joy of Eid and to maintain peace and order.

The instructions are:

  1. Passengers cannot be picked up by stopping or stopping buses inside and outside the long distance and inter-district bus terminals in Dhaka metropolis. Passengers can take a bus seat inside the terminal. The concerned bus representatives have to take care of this.
  2. Inter-district and long-distance buses in Dhaka metropolis will not stop occupying part of the main road adjacent to the terminal.
  3. During the journey, the public transport at the entrance and exit of Dhaka metropolis should be disciplined so as not to create unwanted traffic jams.
  4. Long-distance vehicles leaving Dhaka metropolis should be restrained from carrying extra passengers and goods.
  5. Inter-district transport passengers or commuters have to stay inside the terminal without waiting or standing on the main road.
  6. No bus will run on long distance route permit or unauthorized route from Dhaka metropolis. Everyone involved with the bus will strictly abide by the matter and assist the authorities.
  7. Passengers inside the bus were advised not to eat anything from strangers.
  8. Concerned passengers must keep their tickets with them.
  9. Carefully keep the luggage of the passengers in your custody.
  10. No vehicle shall carry extra passengers on the roof.
  11. Bus drivers will not take part in any unequal competition in picking passengers. This disrupts the discipline of the road and there is a fear of loss of life.
  12. Due to the rising incidence of corona, all transport drivers and passengers have to travel following proper hygiene rules.

If necessary, the traffic department of DMP has requested to call the mobile number 01711-0009990 of the traffic control room or the national emergency service 999.
