A four-kilometer-long tailback has created due to rush of vehicles ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of Muslims.

It was seen on Monday (July 4) evening, several hundreds of vehicles were stuck in two queues for four kilometers from the ghat. The vehicles include cattle-laden, perishable and non-perishable goods laden truck and passenger buses.

A driver of Rabeya Paribahan said, “There was no traffic congestions for last few days. Even there was traffic chaos on today (Monday) morning when I came from Dhaka. But now we stuck in tailback to go to Dhaka.”

Prafulla Chauhan, assistant manager of BIWTC, said the traffic jam was caused due to the pressure of cattle-laden vehicles. However, this traffic jam will be cleared in a short time. There are 16 ferries (big and small) operating in the ghat.
