The government has reduced gas supply in a cost-cutting policy. This has affected many sectors. The biggest impact has been on power generation. Load shedding is being created regularly. The common people have suffered because of this.

However, the government has said the people to be tolerant for the time being.

Sources say that Petrobangla is currently supplying less than 250 million cubic feet of LNG per day. As a result, the crisis is not easing.

According to the investigation, on June 29, the country had a supply of 3,174 million cubic feet of gas. The imported gas i.e. LNG was 854 million cubic feet. Since then, the daily gas supply has been reduced little by little.

Today the gas supply is 2,822 million cubic feet. Of this, LNG is 507 million cubic feet.

Petrobangla says 913 million cubic feet of gas was supplied to the country for power generation on Monday. But June 29 was 1,081 million cubic feet. These two days saw a reduction in the supply of 168 million cubic feet of gas to power generation. This gas-rationing has resulted in reduced power generation.

Concerned parties say that in the past, if there was a gas crisis, the production of oil or coal-fired power plants would have been increased. This time it does not seem to be. The reason is said to be the increase in the price of fuel in the international market.

Although government sources are claiming that the price of LNG has gone up in the spot market, buying from there has now been stopped. In that case, the government is relying on Qatar and Oman trading in the regular supply agreement of LNG.

More or less load shedding is taking place all over the country due to disruption in production. The government is saying that it is force load shedding. In other words, if the production was increased at the center, there would be no need for load shedding. Still being done. The uninterrupted power supply in the capital itself has been diverted.
