Turkish
Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is coming to Dhaka on July 27 for a two-day
visit. He is coming to Bangladesh to attend the Foreign Ministerial Conference
of the D-8 (Alliance of Developing Eight Muslim States).
The
day after the conference, the Turkish Foreign Minister will take part in the
official inauguration of a park and bust sculpture in Dhaka named after the
father of the Turkish nation Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
It
is to be noted that it has been decided to place a sculpture of the father of
the Turkish nation on the east side of Kemal Atatürk Avenue (Gulshan Circle) in
Banani, known as the diplomatic zone, and to name Banani Park as 'Atatürk Park'.
Last
year, on the centenary of Bangabandhu's birth, a bust of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was erected at Boulevard Square in Ankara,
the capital of Turkey, and a park in the capital was named after him, the
foreign ministry said. In return, the park adjacent to Kemal Atatürk Avenue in
Banani will be named after Kemal Atatürk and a sculpture of Atatürk will be
erected in Gulshan Circle.
Accompanied
by the Foreign Minister of Turkey, the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. AK
Abdul Momen will inaugurate the sculpture of Atatürk and the park dedicated to
his name on July 27. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is considering it not only
as an exchange but also as a reminder of the friendship between the two
countries.
Apart
from Turkey, representatives of Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia, and
Nigeria will also arrive in Dhaka on July 27 to take part in the D-8
conference.
