Power Adviser to PM Says about Ongoing Load Shedding

Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, said that if the ongoing load shedding in the country continues till September, the deficit will be met.

He told reporters after an emergency meeting to review the power and gas situation at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday (July 7th) at noon.

Tawfiq-e-Elahi said that the power and energy crisis is not only in Bangladesh but also in developed countries, adding that Japan's income is 20 percent more than ours. There is also load shedding. Load shedding is also happening in developed countries including Britain and Australia.

Claiming that Bangladesh is better than those countries, he said, there is no room for complacency. This ongoing situation is like a war. If everyone tries together, the situation can be overcome.

Recalling the Prime Minister's directive, his power adviser said the Prime Minister said everyone should be affordable. AC should not be kept below 25 degrees, lighting should not be done, night program should be completed by 6 pm.

Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury said that the meeting also recommended bringing back the official schedule of the coronavirus period to save electricity.
