Police have recovered the body of a journalist named Hasibur Rahman Rubel five days after he went missing in Kushtia.

His half-dead body was recovered from the Gorai River under the Kumarkhali Tebaria Golam Kibria Bridge (under construction) in Kushtia's Kumarkhali Upazila around noon on Thursday (July 7).

Journalist Hasibur Rahman Rubel is the son of the late Habibur Rahman of Housing A block area of ​​Kushtia city.

He was the Kushtia District Representative of the daily Amader Somoy, the General Secretary of the Kushtia District Reporters Club, and the Acting Editor of the local daily Kushtia Khobor.

It is learned that Rubel was missing for five days. On July 3, Hasibur Rahman Rubel received a call on his mobile phone while he was in his newspaper office at Singer corner in Kushtia town at around 9 pm. Since then, his mobile phone was found turned off. No further trace of him was found. His family lodged a GD with Kushtia Model Police Station in this incident. The body was found floating in the river under the bridge around noon on Thursday. His family members identified him by looking at his clothes and identity card in his wallet.

Kumarkhali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamruzzaman Talukder said police were sent to the spot after receiving the news. Preparations are underway to recover the body and send it to the morgue. The matter is being investigated. Police are working to bring criminals under the law.
