Ex-UP Member Beaten Dead in Kishoreganj

A former UP member was allegedly beaten to death by rivals at Mithamain Upazila in Kishoreganj district on Monday night following previous disputes, reports media.  

The victim was Md Helim, 35, son of Farid Miah, a resident of Dhobajora village under Ghagra union in the Upazila.

Quoting locals, police said supporters of Aiyub Ali allegedly struck Helim with lethal weapons at Ghagra Bazar at night and abducted him to Aiyub's home.

He was rescued by Ghagra UP chairman Mokhlesur Rahman Bhuiyan.

Helim died on the way to Bhagalpur Medical College Hospital.

Mithamain Police Station officer in-charge Kolindranath Goldar said police recovered the body.

Legal steps in this regard are under process, he added.
