The minimum temperature of AC in the Pani Bhaban should be kept at 26 degrees Celsius, the use of the office vehicle for personal work should be avoided, office activities should start at nine in the morning and leave the office by five in the afternoon.

These urgent steps have been taken to save 50 percent of electricity and reduce costs in all offices of the Bangladesh Water Development Board and other organizations under the Ministry of Water Resources.

These decisions were made in a meeting on Wednesday (July 20). Director General of Water Development Board Fazlur Rashid, Additional Secretary of the Ministry Salma Zafrin, and senior officials of various departments were present at the meeting.

Later this information was informed in a press release of the ministry. It is said that Kabir Bin Anwar, the senior secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, gave such a set of instructions in the meeting held with the aim of saving electricity and energy in the conference room of the capital's Pani Bhaban.

It is also said in the instructions that the central AC will be on for one hour after two hours. However, the temperature of the controllable part of the central AC cannot be lowered below 26 degrees Celsius. The lights of all the corridors of the water building should be kept off, all the lights other than the lights above the desks of the rooms should be kept off, the lights and AC should be turned off when leaving the room, all the glass doors inside the water building should be kept closed, and frosted paper attached to the glass doors must be removed for daylight's ingress.

Apart from this, it mentioned turning off the garden lights of the Pani Bhaban premises, keeping the three lifts in the building open and all the other lifts closed, completely stopping the use of electric kettles and ovens, and ensuring the maximum use of sunlight during the day.

The directives also include encouraging more than one officer to travel to the office in the same vehicle to save fuel, reducing the use of single vehicles for site visits, reducing the number of training courses, and conducting meetings online as much as possible. These decisions will be effective in all buildings under the Ministry of Water Resources at 72 Green Road in the capital.
