Man Held with 12 Gold Bars in Ctg

Customs officials arrested a man along with 12 gold bars weighing around 1.4 kg at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Friday, reports BSS.

The detained Nezam Uddin, hailed from Fatikchari Upazila of the district, was a passenger of an Air Arabia Airlines flight that landed at Shah Amanat International in the city today.

Customs intelligence officials that acting on a tip-off, a team of Customs Intelligence and National Security Intelligence (NSI) conducted a joint drive and searched his body after landing an Air Arabia Airlines flight which came from Sharjha this morning.

“The gold bars were recovered after searching the body of Nezam,” said customs officials.

Legal action will be taken against the person, the source added.
