Teknaf UNO Ordered to Be Made OSD: Cabinet Secretary

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Kaisar Khosru has been ordered to be made officer on special duty (OSD) for verbally abusing a local journalist over mobile phone.

Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam revealed this while briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting today at Bangladesh Secretariat here.

He said “we’ve already instructed to withdraw him, making him OSD immediately. And then action will be taken against him as per what instructions will be passed by the High Court.”

He added that the divisional commissioners have also been instructed strongly to sit in with all officers to discuss their etiquette and behaviour.

Meanwhile, Cox’s Bazar district administration on Sunday issued a show-cause notice against Khosru.

On Thursday last, the accused UNO phoned a local journalist and harassed him verbally questioning why he made  a report on the houses constructed under the Ashrayan-2 project.

Following this, an audio record of the call went viral on social media that sparked huge criticism.
