Two Fishermen Go Missing after Trawler Capsizes in Bay

Two fishermen went missing after two trawlers capsized in Bay of Bengal in Kuakata of Patuakhali due to bad weather early Tuesday (August 9).

The missing fishermen were known as Sirajul Islam, 50, and Siddik Pyada, 55. The capsized two trawlers was identified as ‘FB Anowar’ and ‘FB Sujon’.

Meanwhile, five trawlers with more than 50 fishermen are still missing.

Anowar and Sujon, the owners of the two sunk trawlers, confirmed about the capsize. Alongside, Ansar Uddin Molla, president of the Mahipur and Alipur Fish Agency Owners Association, confirmed the disappearance of trawlers.

Meanwhile, rescued fishermen are undergoing treatment at various hospitals including Mahipur Health Centre.

Abul Khair, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohipur Police Station, said, “We are trying to have information over the matter.”
