The High Court wanted to know
whether the Bangladesh government had asked the country's government for any
specific information about the money of Bangladeshis in various banks in
Switzerland.
The Anti-Corruption Commission
(ACC) and the state have been asked to provide this information by next Sunday
(August 14). On the same day, the court will issue a further order in this
regard.
The High Court bench of Justice
Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat gave this order on Thursday
(August 11) morning after reading the news published in the media.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan
represented the ACC in the court. Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik
represented the state.
Switzerland's ambassador to
Dhaka, Natalie Chuard, who participated in the discussion organized by the
Diplomatic Correspondent Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) on Wednesday (August
10), said that the Bangladesh government did not ask for any specific
information about Bangladeshis keeping money in various banks in Switzerland.
Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin
Uddin Manik said that he will inquire about the matter in Bangladesh Bank and
Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU). Then next Sunday he will inform
the court about the information received.
