The Swiss ambassador to Bangladesh Nathalie Chuard has to withdraw the statement that the Bangladesh government did not ask for any specific information on the Swiss bank accounts of its citizens. The High Court commented that his statement has embarrassed the state.
The
high court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat
made this comment on Sunday (August 14).
The
High Court said, how the ambassador said that the government did not ask for
any specific information on the Swiss bank accounts of its citizens- is not
understandable to us.
At that
time, the High Court directed the lawyer of the state party and the ACC to say
that the information presented by them proves that the statement of the
ambassador is contradictory.
Before
this, the report of BFIU, Bangladesh's financial intelligence, came to the High
Court on Sunday morning. According to the report, various information regarding
the money deposited by Bangladeshis in different banks in Switzerland has been
requested from the country's financial intelligence agency. BFIU lastly asked
the organization for this information on June 17.
