Dhaka Mayors Get Minister Status, Gazette Published

The government has issued a gazette notification finalising the status of Dhaka city corporation mayors as ministers. 

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh will now enjoy all the facilities of a minister. 

A notification signed by Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam was published on Monday. 

It further said that the mayors of Chittagong Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and Narayanganj Selina Hayat Ivy have been given the status of state minister. 

On August 8, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the proposal for the new rank of the mayors.

Previously, the mayors of Dhaka city corporations Annisul Huq and Sayeed Khokon, were given the status of ministers.
