The Election Commission (EC) has decided to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in a maximum of 150 seats during the next general elections.
This decision was taken in the meeting of the Election Commission on Tuesday (August 23).
Ashok Kumar Debnath, additional secretary to the Election Commission (EC), confirmed the matter. He said, considering opinions of all political parties, the EC took the decision.
In reply to a query he said, EVM can be used for maximum 150 seats and minimum 1 seat.
About the ability to use the EVM of EC, Ashok Kumar Debnath said that EC has the ability to use EVM in 70 to 75 seats. If the authority wants to use EVM in 150 seats then, more EVMs would be purchased._Agencies
