The government has reduced launch
fare by 15 paisa per kilometre after fuel prices were lowered by Tk 5 per
litre.
A circular from the shipping
ministry said that the fare of passenger vessels was decreased to Tk 2.85 from
Tk 3.00 a kilometre for the first 100 kilometres and to Tk 2.45 a kilometre
from Tk 2.60 for over 100 kilometres.
The minimum fare has also been
fixed at Tk 30 -- Tk 3 reduced from the existing Tk 33, according to the
government notification.
The new fares will be effective
from tomorrow, it added.
The government on Wednesday
reduced bus fares by Tk 0.05 per kilometre on all routes across the country
which came into effect on Wednesday.
On August 5, the government
increased the prices of petrol, diesel, octane and kerosene at the consumer
level by up to 51 per cent.
