Gold Bars Worth Tk 3.25Cr Found in Plane Toilet

Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has recovered about 4.5 kg of gold abandoned in the toilet of an aircraft of Bangladesh Biman at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Its current market value is around 3 crore 25 lakh taka.

On Monday (September 5) at noon, the gold bars were recovered in a specially hidden condition in the toilet of Bangladesh Biman flight BG 128, which came from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to Dhaka via Chattogram. Each recovered bar weighs 116 grams. The total weight of which is 4 kg 640 grams.

Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Mohammad Fakhrul Islam confirmed this.

He said that the gold was recovered from the washroom of Bangladesh Biman in a specially hidden and abandoned condition at 12:32 PM. Legal action is ongoing in this regard.

According to customs detectives, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation received secret information that there was gold on the flight from Abu Dhabi to Chattogram. At this time, a team led by Deputy Director Ahmadur Reza Chowdhury took position in front of boarding bridge number 10. Later, 40 bars were recovered specially hidden inside the washroom of the plane.
