Myanmar has confirmed that no
more shells will fall on the Bangladesh border. At the same time, the country
confirmed that no citizen of Myanmar will enter Bangladesh again.
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul
Momen said this in response to a question at a press conference organized on
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's participation in the 77th session of the United
Nations General Assembly.
Meanwhile, he said, there is some
conflict in Myanmar. Since knowing this, we have taken the necessary measures
from our side. First of all, we have decided not to allow any Rohingya to enter
Bangladesh. Our border police and other forces have already been alerted and
they are on full alert.
He also said, "We have
repeatedly requested the Myanmar government not to shoot at us." We have
panic here. Myanmar heard the speech. We have informed their government and we
believe… heard that there is a conflict between the (Myanmar) Arakan Army and the
Myanmar Army and many of them are very close to the border. As a result,
Myanmar Army bullets are coming towards us while attacking them.
The foreign minister said, we
have told them in this regard, you will be careful in this regard. They gave
their assurance. We hope no more people will come from Myanmar, we have sealed
it.
It is to be noted that at 9:30 am
on September 3, two shells fired from the Myanmar Army warplanes landed in the
Ghumdhum area of Naikxyongchari Upazila of Bandarban. In the previous week,
two days of mortar shells arrived in Bangladesh from Myanmar.
