Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan
Kamal said that Bangladesh does not want war with Myanmar.
He said these things in response
to questions from journalists after an event at Dhanmondi in the capital on
Saturday (September 17).
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said,
Bangladesh believes in peace. We do not want to engage in any kind of war with
Myanmar. If necessary, a complaint will be made to the United Nations.
On September 14, Foreign Minister
Dr. AK Abdul Momen said that Myanmar has promised that there will be no more
shelling on the Bangladesh border. Along with that, they have assured that no
other citizen of the country will enter this country.
Earlier, Foreign Secretary Masood
Bin Momen said that Bangladesh wants to avoid border tension through dialogue
and negotiation with Myanmar.
However, there were reports of
firing at the Tumbru border in Bandarban this morning as well. This incident is
creating panic in the area.
Earlier on Friday (September 16),
one person was killed in a mortar shell attack on the Ghumdhum border of
Naikshyongchari in Bandarban. And 4 people were injured. Since then, the
situation has been stagnant on the Ghumdhum border.
There has been tension on the
border for the past few days. Sometimes mortar shells and shells are coming
from Myanmar to Bangladesh border. Bangladesh has expressed deep concern over
this.
In this incident, U Aung Kyaw Moe,
Myanmar's ambassador assigned to Dhaka, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs for a meeting with the director general of the country's wing. Strongly
protested to Myanmar twice.
