Panchagarh Boat Capsize

Deadline for Probe Report Submission Extended

An inquiry committee headed by the Additional District Magistrate has been formed into the tragic boat capsizing in the Karatoya River at Boda in Panchagarh. Investigation time has been extended to get accurate information.

It has been informed by the district administration that all the members of the formed investigation committee, including the convener, are directly involved in conducting the rescue operations of the missing persons in the accident, monitoring, providing medical care to the injured persons, and providing assistance to the affected families of the deceased persons. District Magistrate- Dipankar Roy applied for an extension of additional 3 working days, Panchagarh District Magistrate, granted the application.

According to the district administration, the rescue operations are ongoing, and so far no new bodies have been found. The number of dead persons recovered is 68, missing persons are four.

It should be noted that last Sunday (September 25) a terrible boat capsizing occurred at Auliar Ghat in Madea Union of Boda Upazila of Panchagarh District. In the middle of going to attend the ceremony in Mahalaya, the boat capsized due to the pressure of excess passengers in the river.
