2 Arrested for Gang-Raping Teenage Girl in Gaibandha

Two people were arrested today (October 1, 2022) in a case filed for gang-raping a 19-year-old girl in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha.

The accused are Md Jahidul Islam, (45) and Monir Akand (42) of the upazila.

The duo was arrested from their village early morning today after the victim filed the case against them at the police station yesterday, said the police official.

Quoting the case statement, Inspector Bulbul, also the investigation officer of the case said Jahidul developed a relationship with the victim over the phone. On September 29, he promised to marry her and took the girl to Gobindaganj from Natore where he and his friend Monir raped her.

The victim managed to flee the spot and came to the police station, added the IO.
