On the
other side of the Anjuman border in Palangkhali Union of Ukhia Upazila of Cox's
Bazar, the Myanmar army is again firing intermittently. The sound of gunfire
has created panic among the people living along the border. Locals say that
although the border situation has been somewhat normal for several consecutive
days, they heard the sound of bullets raining across the border from 3:00 pm to
7:00 am today, Monday (October 10).
A
local, who did not wish to be named, said that no one in Anjuman area could
sleep due to the sound of gunshots. It seemed like bullets were falling on the
house. In fear, many people left their homes and took shelter in nearby areas.
It is
known that there is a conflict between the Myanmar Army and the Arkan Army in Maungdaw,
Myanmar. The distance from the Anjuman border to Myanmar's snake market is not
much. So the sound of guns is heard.
Abu
Taher, another local resident of Panglakhali Anjuman area, said that from 3 pm
to 7 am, loud sounds of heavy artilleries are heard. No one in our village
could sleep due to this fear. Never heard such a sound before.
Palongkhali
Union Parishad Chairman MA Gafur Chowdhury said, I heard the sound of gunshots.
The matter has been informed to the administration.
