Border
Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar held a flag
meeting at the battalion commander level.
Today,
Sunday (October 30) around 3:00 pm, the Myanmar delegation returned after a
five-hour long meeting between the delegations of the two countries to the
conference room of the BGB's 'Soudan Point' on Shahpari Island in Teknaf,
bordering Naf River.
Earlier,
the Myanmar delegation arrived at Shahpari Island Jetty wharf in two speedboats
around 9 am.
Lieutenant
Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, the commander of BGB's Teknaf 2
Battalion, said that several discussions were held, including important issues
and recent issues between BGB-BGP between the two countries. The details of
this meeting will be given later in a press conference at Teknaf Battalion
Headquarters.
According
to BGB, around 9:30 a.m. on Monday at Shahpari Island, A flag meeting was held
between a 9-member Bangladesh delegation led by Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion Captain
Lt. Col. Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar and a 9-member delegation led by Lt.
Col. Kao Na Yan Sho, Commanding Officer of Border Guard Police Branch No. 1, Maungdaw.

Last
August, massive mortar shelling erupted between the country's army and the
Arakan Army, an insurgent group in Rakhine state, inside Myanmar on the Tumbru
border in Naikhongchari. On August 28, two mortar shells fired by Myanmar
landed in the territory of Bangladesh. Bangladesh strongly protested by
summoning the Myanmar ambassador several times over the casualties in the
border firing.
In
this situation, BGB Director General Major General Shakil Ahmed visited the
border on October 10 to see the situation.
He
said that a protest letter has been sent to BGP.
