CEC Expresses Satisfaction over By-Polls to Faridpur-2

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal today expressed satisfaction over the by-polls to Faridpur-2 constituency.

"We expected that the polls will be held in a peaceful manner and no irregularity will take place. To this context, we are satisfied as we didn't see any irregularity," he told journalists at Nirbachan Bhaban.

Some 1,052 close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were installed at 123 centres to monitor the polls from Nirbachan Bhaban while adequate number of members of law enforcement agencies was also deployed to avoid any untoward situation, he said.

Faridpur-2 constituency fell vacant following the death of deputy leader in parliament and Awami League Presidium Member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury.
