3 Killed in Bagerhat Road Accident

An elderly grandfather and his two grandsons were killed after a brick-laden truck hit their motorcycle on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Fakirhat Upazila of Bagerhat Monday night, reports media.

The deceased were identified as Matleb Khan, 80, and his grandsons Ruhin Khan (25) and Saikat Khan (25).

Mizanur Rahman Sheikh, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Katakhali Highway Police Station, said the truck hit the motorcycle carrying the victims while the deceased were heading towards Katakhali from Rakhalgachi of Bagerhat Sadar, leaving Matleb died on the spot and his grandsons injured.

The injured were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared Ruhin dead while Saikat was sent to Dhaka for better treatment and succumbed on the way, the OC added.

Police seized the truck but its driver managed to escape, he added.
